~ Who We Are ~
Vicki Walker, our team leader has been fortunate enough to build her marketing and people skills while working for some of the best non-profit organizations in Denver. Vicki is also lucky to have one of the premier interior designers in Colorado as her mother; who has taught her about antiques, art work, collectables, furniture, home accessories, jewelry, office furnishings and all things shiny!
Vicki also delivers an informative 30-minute talk to service clubs and senior groups on “What to SAVE, and What to THROW.” With many years of experience Vicki will educate and entertain with humorous tales and hands-on items to view.
Phil Thompson, has developed his business skills through working for some of Denver’s elite companies and owning his own business. He is also extremely curious and loves to research new and different things. His love of all things related nature and cooking makes him our go to person for hunting, fishing, and cooking tools as well as many other cool items.
Corey Johnson, has recently retired after over 30 years as a Social Worker in the Denver area. Corey is a working musician, an avid backpacker, and a high school baseball coach. He loves to repair and restore musical instruments and has an extensive vinyl record collection. His breadth of knowledge for all things music, adventure and sports makes him our go to person for these types of items.
Scott Walker, works with us part time, and is a registered nurse at a local hospital the other “part” of his time. Oh, and he has a used car dealership too. Scott has a college degree in history and has a very wide knowledge of all types of random stuff. He is also married to Vicki, so there is that.
Take a bit of people skills, life experiences, a good sense of humor, some fantastic worker bees, and voila you’ve got the BEST THERE IS in the Denver area for handling your personal property needs.
~ Why Choose Aardvark? ~
We are dedicated to providing you with a comprehensive array of services that enable you to develop and manage your personal property or business assets with efficiency and confidence
We are insured and bonded
We can come take a look right away
We have shoppers that look forward to coming to our sales. The more people who come, the more you sell.
We throw as little away as possible. If items are unsold and in good condition we deliver them to a variety of local nonprofits.
We are green. If items can be recycled or up-cycled we make sure they get to the right place to make that happen.
~ Curious About Our Fees? ~
We offer free consultations
The average commission for any estate sale company is anywhere from 40-50% of gross sales. We work on commission, so if you make money we make money
We DO NOT CHARGE for labor fees on most of our sales. Only in rare instances of very large projects such as enthusiastic collectors, etc. We may impose a set-up fee. But, this will be explained and agreed upon by both parties before signing an agreement
If trash and recycling fees are incurred those fees are passed through to the client
Other services are provided either with a flat fee or hourly and will be discussed during the initial consultation
~ Our Name ~
You might be wondering why Aardvark?
Well, it all started on an early morning drive to Leadville, Colorado. We wanted our company name to be one that made people smile. Life is full of hard decisions and even when change is good it can still be a challenge. Inevitably when people hear our name they smile and it gives us a great way to start a conversation. Also, the aardvark loves to dig and we “dig your stuff”. We enjoy the research, helping our clients lighten their load, and discovering new and great items, while meeting good people along the way.
Actual Aardvarks roam over most of the southern two-thirds of the African continent, avoiding areas that are mainly rocky. A nocturnal feeder, it subsists on ants and termites, which it will dig out of their hills using its sharp claws and powerful legs. It also digs to create burrows in which to live and rear its young. We don’t do any of that.
